The Cottage Line
A cottage industry is a small business, operated out of the home and involves the production, usually by hand, of an artisanal product. Prior to the industrial revolution, most production was concentrate in cottage industry. GlenMary has a line of handmade products that are produced for the sheer enjoyment of manual labour and turning the fruits of the land into useful things for humans to use. An ancillary benefit is providing some income support to the Retreat House.

The GlenMary farm was established in 2021 as a smallholding property just an hour outside of Ottawa. Growing wholesome, healthy food in an environment that is quiet, natural and beautiful was part of the inspiration. Hand-made products from things grown on the site and the local area, are produced as a cottage industry, to support the operations of the Retreat House.
